About Us
The New Zealand Barbecue Alliance (NZBA) was founded in 2018 by the Australasian Barbecue Alliance, one of the worlds leading barbecue competition sanctioning bodies.
The ABA has Sanctioned 63 barbecue competitions in Australia and New Zealand since late 2014 and has more than 50,000 Facebook Group members, 28,000 Instagram followers, 5,000 Newsletter members and 300 registered competing teams.
The ABA has trained more than 1200 barbecue competition judges with the help of its dedicated volunteer competition crew members which nows totals approx 30 people in Australia and New Zealand.
The ABA Sanctioned 5 barbecue competitions in New Zealand in 2017 including Meatstock Auckland and 4 Rounds of the Jack Daniel’s National Barbecue Championship Series. 2018 sees Meatstock return and the completion of the JD Series with Rounds 5, 6 & 7.
The NZBA is currently managed by ABA Co-Founder and General Manager, Adam Roberts whilst a NZ based network and admin team are developed over time.
